Sea, Air, and Land, Three Living Legends | The Watch Buyers Group

You can’t really love watches and not want to own certain timeless classics such as the Rolex Submariner. These timeless classics have been from the moon to the bottom of the sea and back still ticking. They have been in movies as a representation of cool and you too can share in their mystique. Be the guy that takes a cue from James Bond and wears his Sub on a Nato strap while dressed to the nines, be the guy who wears a probably the most iconic tool watch, the Omega Speedmaster, on a cool leather band while wearing a suit and no tie like George Clooney or on a nasa Velcro strap in shorts and a polo. Cool is cool and these watches are cool.

Rolex Submariner

Who, almost instantly, doesn’t think of James Bond when they encounter the Rolex Submariner. Date or no-date it brings a cool image of Sean Connery in a tuxedo, standing in a European casino, and lighting a cigarette or Roger Moore turning over in bed to touch his latest conquest. Simply the Sub is stainless steel sex. Cool factor aside the Sub is tough tool watch that has been issued to military divers throughout the world because it is as tough as it is cool. Over the years and model numbers the Rolex Submariner has evolved into a functional work of art that you can still buy today for $8500

Omega Speedmaster

Houston, we have a problem if the Omega Speedmaster isn’t on your list of legendary watches still in production. Who wouldn’t have reverence for a watch that was on the moon, yes I said on THE MOON. This watch was on the wrist of Astronaut Buzz Aldrin as he and Neil Armstrong walked on the moon. Armstrong’s Speedmaster stayed in the landing vehicle because it was being used to replace a damaged instrument. As if that wasn’t enough to provide some street cred to its dependency, durability, and accuracy, then it was also used on Apollo 13 Mission Commander James Lovell to time the intervals between and the duration of the thrusts used to reenter earths atmosphere as other instrumentation was either broke or failing. So if you want to own a watch that has been tested in the some of the toughest times possible, take a look at the Omega Speedmaster which starts at a price around $4500.

Rolex Datejust

Form and function has molded the timeless Rolex Datejust into a living legend and Rolex’s most sold model. The Datejust was introduced in 1945 as an evolution to the Rolex Bubbleback, the evolution being the addition of a date complication. The datejust is not just a handsome dress watch for only looks, this watch is a good everyday wearer being in the tough Rolex Oyster case and is waterproof to 100 meters. Like the previous two watches the datejust oozes coolness, it has been worn by politicians such as President Dwight Eisenhower and John McCain, and by actors in movies and tv, like Paul Newman in The Color of Money, and James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano in The Sopranos.
